“ | Up until this moment, there has been a great wall between us. Even though we are both seeking the way to a better world, feelings of distrust caused us to turn away from one another. In you, we saw persecutors, and in us, you saw heretics. But I am going to swear something to you, here and now. Those things we saw in each other were only illusions. | ” |
Julius XVIII was the Patriarch of Ormus/the Immigrant Fleet during Xenosaga: Pied Piper. He is said to be an ancestor of the Sergius XVII who appears in Xenosaga Episode II. Erich Weber and future Patriarch Sergius XIV conspired to assassinate him so that Sergius could gain power.
Biography[]
Julius XVII was working to establish peace between the Immigrant Fleet and the Galaxy Federation. According to the Episode III database entry for "Anti-Patriarch Faction", many people took a negative opinion of the policies of Julius XVIII. In the latter half of the T.C. 4600s, Julius XVIII proposed that planet Abraxas, which was in possession of the Zohar, should be split with the Galaxy Federation and governed by both entities. However, at the time, the Immigrant Fleet and Galaxy Federation were waging a continued internal power struggle over the Zohar, and not many agreed with Julius's decision to press forward with his policy of appeasement.
Julius is killed near the end of Pied Piper's second chapter by Erich Weber (a.k.a. "Voyager") and is succeeded by Patriarch Sergius XIV.
