Kefeinzel is the flagship of Aveh's border fleet, commanded by Vanderkam. Placed at the center of its squadron, it is accompanied by four cruizers and six attackers.[1] The Kefeinzel is equipped with advanced propulsion rings, making it a perfect vessel to travel the desert sands at the cost of being able to fly or the ability to travel on harder surfaces.
One trait of the Kefeinzel is its massive array of guns and cannons. The bridge alone is equipped to fire 7200 kahns of firepower from all four directions, which is supplemented with a battery of ten guns along the hull. With firepower able to terrorize towns and shoot down aircraft, it is nicknamed the 'invincible fleet'.[2]
This arsenal comes at a cost, as the added weight of the weaponry equipped slowed down the Kefeinzel's ability to move and react, making it vulnerable to air attack by Gears, which can outmaneuver its guns.[3]
Xenogears[]
In order to keep the Kefeinzel at bay as Bart begins his plan to infiltrate Bledavik, Fei Fong Wong leads a small group of Gears from Bart's crew to the Aveh-Kislev border. As Fei's group charges in, the crew of the Kefeinzel begin evasion procedures, which Vankerkam promptly halts, opting instead for a second destroyer squadron to approach Gears' flank, in order to bait Fei's squad into the path of the Kefeinzel's main gun. As Fei's squad approaches, Vankerkam argues with his crew, who insist the Gears are too fast to be properly aimed at.
After Fei's squad destroys the Kefeinzel's guns, the crew evacuates the sinking ship, leaving Vanderkaum behind.
Trivia[]
- Two crew members are named in Perfect Works: Kokusa, the navigator, and Hoche, the chief gunner.[1]
- Kefeinzel was part of a group of ships, with the others being the Zankretenzel, the Bruschke, and a fourth unnamed vessel. After the loss of the Kefeinzel, any plans for the rest of the vessels were canceled.[3]
