I think the guy who keeps reverting thinks he's just undoing vandalism. Just so everyone's on the same page: the reason those chunks of the page as well as the "guide" on Myyah Hawwa are being cut is because they're not (or barely) based in canon, but mostly the banned admin's conspiracy theories. If someone wonders what this is about, this is the same admin as the silent hill wiki.

Can someone confirm with certainty what is real and what is not ?

The person who keeps undoing the edits to the Myyah/Miang article says that the edited out parts have been there for two years, but they've just been there since about September 14th, 2015, if I'm looking at the edits history correctly: http://xenosaga.wikia.com/wiki/Myyah_Hawwa?diff=36447&oldid=28399 It's about the same with the Xenogears main article.
Also, if we go by the logic of 'it may be something from Perfect Works', then by that logic, just about anything can be thrown on here by anyone. Until these theories can be confirmed, it may be safer to edit or move out out any parts from AlexShepard (or any trolls that may appear in the coming days) that deviate from established canon until hard evidence is found.
I'm new here, but if I have time, I can try to edit/reword things in the future, but I don't want to create more work for people. Tanyuu (talk) 20:13, December 18, 2015 (UTC)
Quite a few additions seem to have been part of a single ongoing fit from a user who took similar... "liberties" with the Silent Hill wiki recently, in terms of branding the page with a fusion of interpretations and personal essays. I think it's perfectly fine to cut quite a bit of this content as long as the core themes (sans the copious interpretations) are still included. Sadly I'm not familiar enough with the game to comment on things like whether certain characters have done certain unsavory things or the like. I can't say what this game's themes are or aren't, but anything that starts putting them in terms of commandments for real life should probably be reworded at a sharp minimum. If nothing else, if there's no source given for a particular "insight", it could be temporarily cut and re-added when and if actual substantiation is found. Just the drive-by opinion of a random stranger here, but I thought I'd poke my nose into this just to give my unsolicited two cents. (I apologize if that's unhelpful or annoying!) Yeah, I found this place from that drama too, but being pretty familiar with Xenogears I figure I could at least try to help out a bit. Xenosaga'll have to be someone else's deal, though, as I only played the first game in that branch of the Xeno series.Tanyuu (talk) 03:43, December 22, 2015 (UTC)
What the frak?[]
Alright, I admit it's been a few years since the last time I played Xenogears....but seriously? Someone's extrapolated the plot quite heavily with fanfiction. Judging by the looks of things, someone who probably belongs in a padded cell and has more psychological issues than Fei. Padenton (talk) 08:06, December 19, 2015 (UTC)
Yeah. When I have time, I'm trying to edit things down based on information from Perfect Works, but the English translation (while doing its best considering this is a wordy beast of a book, i do not envy the people who took this on), sometimes leaves things vague. I tackled the Miang/Myyah page, but the Xenogears page may be a harder one to tackle without just rewriting the whole thing. Tanyuu (talk) 19:11, December 19, 2015 (UTC)
I apologize for editing out the recent anon's changes to this article, but it was the same plot summary AlexShepard had put in before. Tanyuu (talk) 16:44, March 19, 2016 (UTC)
This game deserves a PS5 remake. Under the name Final Fantasy 16[]
Final Fantasy 7 had a PS4 remake with an expanded storyline, a revamped and actionized battle system and with new locations and dungeons added. Xenogears, having a lot of cut content, desperately cries for the same treatment. Its cut dungeons from disc 2 deserve to be fully fleshed out, and the already preexisting story could become even better if we could see directly the events that Fei and Elly narrate.
If Square decided to remake it under the name Final Fantasy 16, not only could they use a famous brand as a way to increase the game's recognition, but it would be the "Final Fantasy" that will bring the franchise back from its declineTokoyami no Nietzsche (talk) 10:27, May 16, 2020 (UTC)
My first take as a fellow fan (ie, mod hat is off), is that it'd read badly to people who may see it as Square cannibalizing old titles for one of its main franchises. I can't see Final Fantasy as a series being in decline, mostly because I see it as more a tree than a line from one numbered game to the next. They keep expanding it, for better or worse, and it's a brand that keeps growing.
Xenogears a great game, and it's a game of its time, which I think is one of its strengths. FF7 was remade in full, and it took dang well forever, but Square felt there was going to be enough of a customer base for it to pay off well, and it did. FF7 is also a canon that has been added on and retconned several times, so fans are used to things changing. If they remade Xenogears in the same way, I could see many fans getting upset. Maybe something on the level of Xenoblade's remaster could be in order, with added content being the things they had to skip over, maybe, but I think just having 'Xeno' in the title would be enough, no FF needed.
My other take is that 'it's happened already'. Tetsuya Takahashi's got some core themes and concepts he keeps coming back to in all his games, even ones that initially seemed to be completely different beasts, like the Xenoblade series. I'd honestly wonder how he'd think of returning to Xenogears after doing all the other Xeno titles. If he does, I'd be interested, but the guy got me to buy a Wii *and* a Wii U, so that's not saying much.
Maybe we'll come back to this thread years down the line with news of a remake or something. Here's to hoping! Tanyuu (talk) 01:34, May 17, 2020 (UTC)
For "Added content" I just meant all the parts that were skipped in DIsc 2. By the way, how would Xenogears have been if Disc 1 was a game for the PS1 and Disc 2 was released on the PS2 as a separate game (like what happened with Xenosaga 1 and 2)?Tokoyami no Nietzsche (talk) 11:52, May 23, 2020 (UTC)
Sorry, didn't see your reply until now!
If we're talking about PS2 era, I think it would have been received pretty well, since there were many titles that did the same (ie SMT: Digital Devil Saga, .hack, etc), but I can't say if that was just due to people being more open to it at the time or because it was a series with a more of a niche audience.
Though, I suppose that is kind of what happened, since Takahashi went on to make Xenosaga. Though this could be reason to believe that a Xenogears PS2 version done the same way would have fallen to the same problems as Xenosaga did. That's my two cents. Tanyuu (talk) 17:48, July 3, 2020 (UTC)
Final Xeno[]
I know that this game was originally going to be Final Fantasy 7, but I notice a few similar elements in each game anyway.
- There are nine playable characters, and a female permanently leaves.
- Both main protagonists were experimented on and had severe problems with their psyche, one with his memory and the other with his personality. Both are cured when the recesses of their minds are visited.
- The two main antagonists are like the Gnostic Demiurge. One is relatively smaller than the other, yet both are opposite genders.
- Both games contain “giant powerful robots”.
- They both contain characters with names and characteristics similar to people from other “cultures”.
- The second discs contain a relatively small quest revolves around getting large McGuffins, during which secondary characters get a little development. Whitehorse24 (talk) 02:53, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
