As Xenogears is part of the Xenosaga history, can it be placed here? --16:48, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Anyone here? ^^: I'd like to help out with this community a bit... but it seems a bit dormant...--The Professor 21:25, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Please do help out! Just use the box below to create new articles. Good luck in relaunching this wiki. If you know of any communities involved in this, perhaps you could encourage them to come and join you in editing here (see Wikia:Promotion for some tips). Angela talk 00:54, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Well, I have a suggestion for the logo for this wikia. Why not the U.M.N logo from Xenosaga? The wikia is called "U.M.N Network" after all. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h305/Faolan_of_the_Wolves/UMNlogo.jpg?t=1184843184 --UniverseReset --4:05, 19 July 2007

That logo would be nice. I'd really like to spend more time working on this Wikia, but tons of other Wikipedia duties have placed it on the backburner. Squall Deckiller 05:15, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
The "Unus Mundus Network Network"? That's like when people say ATM machine, or PIN number. Redundancy at its sneakiest ;) --BlackAlbedo 04:27, November 19, 2011 (UTC)

Hi all,

On Sunday October 14th there is going to be an IRC chat for gaming wikis at the #wikia-gaming channel. Contributors, admins, and foudners of all/all gaming-related wiki on Wikia are invited to discuss common issues that we might have, sharing our experiences, and helping each other out. The time of the chat will be:

Update[]

Heya - thanks for updating the main page to use the new tags. I've given it a further tweak to allow the right column to move down freely, and have updated the gaming logo. Kirkburn (talk) 20:11, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Everything[]

Added logo, skin, background, redesigned pages and templates, added over 194935024355468 pages, added transparent image character backgrounds to infoboxes, categorized pages... LIKE IT?! —Jiyanamiki 00:09, April 12, 2011 (UTC)

I think it looks great! How long did it take you to add over 194935024355468 pages? --BlackAlbedo 01:15, November 18, 2011 (UTC)

Mobile homepage[]

When accessing https://fandom.xenosaga.com from a mobile device, the displayed copy has a typo:

Were [sic] are a wiki dedicated to the science-fiction, Role-Playing-Game series, Xenosaga, developed by Monolith Soft and published by Namco. The series currently consists of three main games with three spin-offs, as well as an animated series. Come join us and read all about it!

I looked up some info and I believe non-admins are unable to edit this section. Due to the age of this wiki, I wonder if the deprecated Mobile Main Page is lingering here even after the recent (?) migration to FandomMobile. (Has this wiki been migrated? Maybe we're not yet part of the rollout?)

This seems like a good moment to bring the text into alignment with the copy on the desktop version of the main page and/or any other landing pages that are currently configured.

To be honest, I'm not even sure what is going on regarding the mobile version of the wiki. I've edited the description a while ago, so I thought I had fixed it already. As far as migration, I'm pretty clueless on that as well. If there's something I can do on my end to help you out, let me know. Tanyuu (talk) 23:42, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
No worries! I'm learning as I go, too. As a longtime fan of the series I'm grateful for you keeping this running smoothly. Thank you for all the hard work you've put in to maintain it!
I took another look at their help page about FandomMobile and it looks like by default, all mobile traffic is being served by the new version as of April 7, 2021. It says that "The main page on a mobile experience is now wiki stats, the wiki description, Trending Articles, and Trending Categories."
I dug into the source code of the mobile version of https://xenosaga.fandom.com (paste "view-source:https://xenosaga.fandom.com" into the address bar of a mobile browser) and found that text here:
<p class="mobile-main-page__wiki-description">Were are a wiki dedicated to the science-fiction, Role-Playing-Game series, Xenosaga, developed by Monolith Soft and published by Namco. The series currently consists of three main games with three spin-offs, as well as an animated series. Come join us and read all about it!</p>
Meanwhile on https://xenosaga.fandom.com/f the description shows as one that I'm guessing is what you updated:
<p class="community-info-description ">Xenosaga Wiki is a wikia dedicated to gathering information on everything related to the Bandai-Namco series Xenosaga, as well as its spiritual predecessor, Square Enix's Xenogears. Come read where the Xeno series began, the spiritual links the two series have to each other, as well as their echoes in newer entries in the Xeno universe.</p>
So it looks like there are two descriptions, one for the mobile main page and another for the community page, and I'm unsure where the setting is to adjust them, but the way they're defined makes me think they're pulling from separate sources. Granted, having the class defined differently could be as simple as them... being different pages, but tl;dr, there's probably another editable field somewhere that contains this older text. Maybe there's a place to enter the "wiki description" vs the "community info description"?
Elendraug (talk) 03:01, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, the weird thing is, the only way I've found to edit the mobile webpage is by using the 'Edit mobile main page' link in the dropdown menu for the edit button. The window pulls up a page that says 'Mobile Main Page', but then shows 'Promote your Wiki' as the next item. My suspicion, after reading what you've found out, is that the modal window is loading a page for promotional settings, not the actual edit page for the mobile front page.
I've posted a question about this on the Wiki Manager's talk page to see if they can figure out what's going on here.
Tanyuu (talk) 02:45, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for looking into it! I realized belatedly that (obviously) the community page isn't what we're after, and I should've just looked further down on the mobile version of the main page. The old description ("mobile-main-page__wiki-description") shows up first at the very top, and then in a collapsible section is what has got to be the updated text you were referring to, with the same description as the desktop version but with a simpler mobile layout (and still with the images of Elly/Fei/Shion/KOS-MOS).
<section id="Welcome_to_Xenosaga_and_Xenogears_Wiki-collapsible-section" aria-pressed="1" aria-expanded="1" class="mobile-hidden"><p>The <i><a href="/wiki/Xenosaga" title="Xenosaga">Xenosaga</a></i> and <i><a href="/wiki/Xenogears" title="Xenogears">Xenogears</a></i> wiki that anyone in the Milky Way galaxy can edit!
</p><p><b>This wiki contains unmarked spoilers for <b>Xenogears</b> and the <b>Xenosaga</b> trilogy.</b>
</p><p>For <i>Xenoblade</i>, <i>Xenoblade Chronicles X</i>, and <i>Xenoblade Chronicles 2</i>, be sure to visit our sister wiki, the <a href="https://xenoblade.fandom.com/wiki/" class="extiw" title="w:c:Xenoblade">Xenoblade Wiki</a>!
</p>
It is on the main page after all, just if/when the user scrolls down and clicks on View full main page. So yeah, exactly, now the trick is to figure out how to actually get in there and edit it. Thanks for checking things out on the admin side; it's been tough to guess what might be happening on the other end, so if me rummaging through the HTML has been useful at all, I'm really glad!
Elendraug (talk) 05:59, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Moviesign replied back and linked the proper page, so it's been fixed now. By the way, thanks for looking through the Xenosaga entries. I have not touched them as much as the Xenogears entries, so I appreciate the edits you and a few other active editors have been doing. Tanyuu (talk) 00:38, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
Awesome, thank you both for getting it resolved! Can confirm, it looks good to go on my end. I'm doing the bulk of my editing on desktop, FYI, but will pull things up on my phone occasionally, too.
And you're very welcome, I'm glad to be here! Tragically I never finished Xenogears (I got stuck at Dominia and couldn't backtrack, RIP) and have been meaning to get back to it for a long time. I played Xenosaga in its entirety and have revisited it over the years so the material is fresher in my head. It sounds like our areas of expertise overlap in a way that'll be useful for tidying things up. I'm determined to get some of these badges, so fingers crossed I'll be able to maintain a steady pace. Please let me know if you need anything from me; I reviewed the guidelines/manual of style/etc and am doing my best to work within the established framework and make things match.
Elendraug (talk) 02:54, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
I admit the manual of style is outdated and is from before my time; I should update it when I have a chance. Whatever you do is greatly appreciated!
As a note: there's quite a bit of articles that have copied and pasted translations, so if you discover any, depending on what option works better for the time you have or what you feel up to, either summarize, take these bits out, or if they're short enough, use them as fodder for quotes. I had try summarizing for a lot of the Gnosis article, so I don't hold it against anyone if they go another route. Tanyuu (talk) 04:19, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
