The following is a timeline for Xenogears, adapted from the game's script and other sources, such as UltimateGraphics' translation of Perfect Works.

Due to much of this timeline being from unofficially translated sources, there will be errors, and it should not be taken word for word. Please check citations and notes for unclear dates, clarifications, translation errors, and contradictions to help with future corrections.

While there are many similarities between the two, please do not put events from Xenosaga here, as it is a separate timeline.

Anno Domini Era[]

A.D. 2001[]

[Note 1]

Zohar2

The Zohar.

  • In an age that would be noted as the "the last savior', anxieties lift after the words left behind by a "rare prophet" does not come to pass, and humanity enters a new millennium.[1]
  • On Earth, a mysterious object is unearthed from stratum that was approximately 3.9 billion years old. Despite this, the object has an artificial appearance, including the shape of an eye.[1]
    • Before it could be carbon-dated, a research institution puts forth the hypothesis that the object is an "artificial" panspermia, making it the origin of terrestrial life. This leads to a wave of additional theories and arguments, clouding speculation.[1]
  • When the object is finally carbon-dated as over 15 billion years old, it revitalized a new wave of theories, some of which wondered if its source was of "God".[1]
  • Due to its strong magnetic properties, it was given the name MAM ("Magnetic Abnormal Matter") out of convenience.
  • Research on MAM is conducted on a national level until budgeting problems arose, halting any progress.[1]
    • A group of voluntary researchers privately continues their research of MAM, eventually giving it another name: the Zohar.[1]

A.D. 2510[]

  • The Space Emigration Project begins with the goal of emigrating humanity into space. The newly founded Directorate aims to complete the project in fifteen years.[1]
  • T.C. (Transcend Christ) is adopted, and the length of a year is shifted to 365 days.[1]

Transcend Christ Era (New Era)[]

T.C. 0016[]

  • After sixteen years of development, a fleet of immigrant ships depart Earth.[1]
  • Afterward, for unknown reasons, Earth becomes a "forbidden land" and is re-named "Lost Jerusalem."[1][2][Note 2]

T.C. 0294[]

T.C. 0295[]

  • The Star Cluster Federation is inaugurated, and Neo Jerusalem becomes its first Prime Star.[1]
    • The Directorate is unified and reorganized.
    • The first President is elected.[Note 3]
    • Neo Jerusalem is chosen as the chief cardinal point for humanity as they continue their exploration through the stars.

T.C. 47xx[]

  • Various small nations band together to form a galactic federation, which is held together and governed by the Directorate.[2]
  • Skimishes begin between frontier nations. Rivalries, space pirates, and similar conflicts become an accepted norm. Interstellar war breaks out.[3][2]

T.C. 4743[]

  • Due to the efforts of a group of archaeologists, MAM is discovered in a cargo hold of a "museum carrier" ship belonging to a "pilgrim fleet" of an ancient wandering religious sect.[3][Note 4]

T.C. 4744[]

  • Analysis of MAM resumes.[3]

T.C. 4750[]

T.C. 4751[]

  • Project Zohar is launched, centering around using MAM to prove and master the theory of phenomenon phase shift.[3]

T.C. 4752[]

  • Interstellar strife intensifies.[2]

T.C. 4761

  • Abel is born.[2]

T.C. 4765[]

  • Due to an unknown accident, the planet hosting Project Zohar disappears.[2]
    • MAM is found nearby floating in space and recovered.

T.C. 4766[]

  • Kadomony is installed directly into MAM's eye, nearly completing work on the Zohar.[3]
    • Much like MAM, the nature of Kadonomy's inner workings, having been produced by an "over-technology",[Note 5] is unknown.[4]
    • Having been constructed to be contained within the Zohar, Kadonomy is surmised to be made of the same material.[5]
  • In order to put an end to the interstellar war, System Deus is completed after being under development for some time.[3][6]
    • The Zohar is designated Deus's main power source, with Kadonomy serving as the Deus system's control.[7][3][5]

T.C. 4767[]

ZoharEye

Abel sees the Original Elehayym.

  • Three months after the Zohar is made Deus' main power source, a series of experiments are conducted to test the connection between the Zohar and Deus. Taking place on a space station orbiting the planet Miktam04β, which was undergoing terraforming, the experiments were kept top secret, even from the military.[3][2][8]
    • During the tests, the Zohar begins to examine "infinite potential phenomena".
      • Requiring more power, the Zohar connects to an upper dimensional space, where all is waves. In the process, it 'synchronizes' with the one existence there: the Wave Existence.[9][8]
        • Falling through the Path of Sephirot to a four-dimensional world, the Wave Existence is forced to materialize itself within the Zohar, becoming bound to it.[8]
      • Now trapped, the Wave Existence makes contact with a young boy named Abel, who was there for unknown reasons.[8]
        • Abel's "desire to return to his mother" is passed on to the Wave Existence, who embodies these human traits as "the mother's will".[10][11][8]
        • Wanting to escape its "'cage of fleshly existence'", the Wave Existence realizes it needs to be released by Abel, since he was the one who gave it a 'will'.[12]
      • The Wave Existence is split into the three parts: will, power, and body.[13]
        • Its will is incarnated through a newly evolved Kadomony, becoming the original version of Elehayym, as well as an embodiment of the Persona, Kadomony's central element.[8][14][5][15]
        • Its power is channeled through the Zohar into Abel, enabling him to be reborn over and over again as the Contact until the Wave Existence is freed from the Zohar.[16][17]
        • Its body stays trapped in the Zohar.[13]
  • At some point afterwards, Deus goes out of control and invades the surrounding colonies, resulting in innumerable causalities. The military manages to subdue Deus at the cost of many lives, and place it in suspended animation.[3]
  • All three core components (Kadamony, Zohar, and Deus) are individually disassembled and sealed off from one another.
  • Eldridge p9

    The Eldridge.

In order to investigate what caused the accident, the interstellar colony ship Eldridge is requisitioned by the military to transport the cores, as well as the 1.2 million survivors, to another star system.[3][2][18]
    • Special Forces Colonel Shigeyoshi Inoue from the Technology Research Headquarters is temporarily made the Eldridge's captain, and eight military personnel are to serve as the bridge crew.[2]
    • Abel is one of the survivors that boards the Eldridge.[16]

Xenogears Intro

The Eldridge crash.

  • At an unknown point inflight, Deus's main body, referred to as 'Omega 1', unexpectedly activates.[3][2][19][Note 6]
    • Kadomony's Persona, which is referred to as 'Alpha 1', is activated.[2]
      • An operator confirms an "exon replacement" on Kadomony's "genome", marking Kadonomy's shift to "Deus Control Mode".[8][20][21][22]
    • Kadomony accesses Razael, the Eldridge's mainframe.[23]
    • The bridge crew tries to contain Deus with different methods, but Deus gains control.
    • Deus takes control of 98% of the Eldridge's weaponry.[24] Ship machinery begins to act like living creatures, attacking passengers and crew.[6]
      • After accessing and altering the autopilot system, Deus shifts the Eldridge into space displacement mode and plots a course to Lost Jerusalem.[3][2][25]
    • Captain Inoue makes the decision to abandon the Eldridge in order to stop Deus. He calls the engine room to activate the emergency sealing system, but the engine room is already overtaken.[26]
    • The monitor screens in the bridge fill with the repeating text: "You shall be as gods."
    • Captain Inoue orders all crew and passengers to evacuate.[27]
      • The ship's external weapon systems attack departing spacecraft.
  • As a last resort measure, Captain Inoue uses a secret line to activate the bolts of the Spinal Shaft system holding the Eldridge's sections together, effectively dismantling the ship and sealing its fate.[3]
    • The Eldridge is forced out of space displacement mode as it becomes unable to maintain mass balance, and is caught in the gravity of a nearby planet.
    • The heat of the Eldridge's uncontrolled atmospheric entry disintegrates its hull. Only blocks with emergency navigational ability are able to survive the landing intact.[3]
  • Several pieces of the Eldridge scatter across the planet.
    • The Babel block of the front hull later becomes known as Babel Tower.[3]
    • The 2nd block of the front hull, a large scale plant, later gets used as a part of Shevat.[3]
    • Unspecified remnants are later used to construct the first base of Solaris.[28]
    • Several vessels aboard the ship are later excavated by future civilizations, such as the Excalibur (No. 1), Excalibur (No. 2), and the Land Cruiser that would eventually be incorporated into the Yggdrasil IV.[3]
  • Having determined that it will not escape being injured upon impact, Deus separates from Kadomony.[18] The central block containing Deus' physical body falls to the ocean floor, where Deus begins its long slumber until the day it would be revived.[2][3]
  • Just before the Zohar's body lands, Kadomony separates itself to land on a coastline, while the Zohar itself lands near the planet's pole.[2] Despite a successful landing, a section of its essential parts, the Anima Relics, are scattered across the globe.[18]
  • The central block containing Raziel achieves a soft landing in an area that eventually becomes known by the block's name: Mahanon.[3]
    • Due to Raziel's records regarding Deus, the area would later be blocked off by the Gazel Ministry using Gate technology to avoid those records from falling into anyone's hands.[3]
  • The only survivor of the Eldridge is Abel, who survives due to being the Contact.[18][29]

Mother

The mother of humanity arises naked from the wreckage.

8-heymom14

The mother of humanity's remains resting in the supercomputer Kadomony.

  • Kadomony activates System HAWWA, transforming Elehayym into the mother of humanity, also called 'Original Myyah'.[2][30][5]
    • Using Kadomony's biological assembler plant, she creates Cain, the first human, and the twelve members of the Gazel Ministry from the original parts of Animus.[18][31][2][32]
      • The Gazel Ministry's task was to search for the Anima Relics, while the immortal Cain was to manage them.[18][33]
  • The mother of humanity, in order to follow the two conflicting objectives within her, creates the first incarnations of Elehayym and Myyah.[34][30] She then lays her body to rest inside Kadomony.[18]
    • Elehayym, known as the Antitype, inherits the will of the 'Mother' and would be born the same time as the Contact, after which she would seek him out.[8][14]
    • Myyah Hawwa inherits the role of the "Weapon", focusing on shaping and managing humanity to become parts for Deus by any means necessary.[35]
      • Instead of being reincarnated with a new body like Elehayym, Myyah would 'awaken' in at least one female host each time she died.[21][36]
    • The last incarnation of Elehayym would awaken as the last host of Myyah on the day of resurrection and merge with Deus, as the two of them are needed to complete its final form.[21]
  • Xenogears_-_Lonely

    Xenogears - Lonely

    Abel and Elehayym meet.

  • The newly created Elehayym finds a seven year old Abel, and the two develop a relationship of mother and child.[21]
  • Cain and the Gazel Ministry use Kadomony to mass produce the "archetype" of humanity. The humans diversify, and their population expands at a massive rate, then slows.[2][18]

0010[]

  • In order to control the growing population and shape them for Deus's resurrection in the future, Cain and Myyah encourage the belief and eventual worship of Cain being an advent of god, as well as the idea of a 'chosen people'.[2][33][28]
  • Abel and Elehayym spread an opposing philosophy of free will, presenting an outside threat to Cain's goals.[2][33][29]

0011[]

Abel y elly 3jpg

Elly dies while protecting Abel.

  • Cain carries out his plan to kill Abel.
    • Elehayym severely admonishes Cain in order to save Abel's life, but Cain insists on carrying out his plan.[33][37]
    • As Abel and Elehayym flee from Cain, Elly uses her body to shield Abel from Cain's attack. She tells Abel to live before she passes away in his arms.[29][33][2]
      • Myyah silently observes and does not intervene.
      • Abel's final fate is unclear.[30]
      • Realizing that he killed an embodiment of the mother of humanity, Cain would later grow concerned with the fate of humanity.[33]

0012-5999[]

  • At two unknown points of time, Myyah "resets" humanity for unstated reasons.[38]
  • Worship of Cain slowly expands over time.[28]
    • Cain and the others use remnants of the Eldridge to construct a base of operations, creating the original base of what would become the Holy Empire Solaris several centuries later.[28]
      • This base is used for research on humans and reforming them, in order to prepare for Deus' revival.

6000s (Zeboim Era)[]

60xx[]

  • The 'Third Anonelbe' of humanity reaches an intellectual peak, leading to a modernized civilization.[38]
    • Due to inborn genetic damage, the average life span was around 30 years, and many were unable to have children.[38]
    • According to Kim's memories, the era was marred by rising crime, a slipping economy, urban blight, religious extremism, and a totalitarian government.[39]

6053[]

  • Kim enters Graduate School and manages to earn his Master's Degree that same year.

6077[]

  • Kim presents a paper at an academic conference on using molecular machines as a means to reconstruct faulty DNA, something he had been working on since his days as a student.
    • In his paper, Kim proposes a creation of a form of psuedo-life, consisting of a colony of molecular machines to serve as a template.[Note 9]
    • Scholars, after examining Kim's paper, decry it as blasphemous and heretical, and expel Kim.
  • Expelled from academic society, Kim abandons his research and re-enters Medical School to become a doctor.
22-zeboim38

Myyah, standing next to the Zeboim Head of State.

6078[]

  • Myyah and the Ministry judge that this era's humans are unfit for becoming parts for Deus, and set out a plan to cull the population once again, this time using a global nuclear war.[38][41]
    • Myyah's plan was twofold, as she expected the resulting radiation would spur the evolution of surviving humans.[36]
    • To this end, Myyah becomes a close advisor to Zeboim's Prime Minister.[42]

6078-80[]

  • Relations between Zeboim and other countries slowly worsen as a result of Myyah's manipulations behind the scenes, leading to the possible threat of a large scale war.[38][Note 10]
    • In order to deter this, the anti-government organization Ravine resists Zeboim's military.[38][Note 10]

6079[]

  • Kim becomes a doctor at the Federal Medical Office. He and Elehayym meet at the same hospital.

  • Ravine blows up Zeboim's central electrical facility, causing a 50% blackout in the capital city.[38]
    • Despite Kim's hospital having a backup generator, six people die, one of which is a young girl under Kim's care.[43]
  • Elly finds out through her physical exam that she is unable to have children.[44][Note 10]
  • Myyah takes notice of Kim's thesis and, seeing its potential to evolve humanity, meets up with Kim, offering to sponsor a facility to allow him to continue his nanotechnology research.
    • Kim accepts and resumes his research, while also continuing his work as a Federal doctor.
  • The Ravine group also acquires Kim's thesis. Seeing its potential for creating dangerous weapons, they contact Kim.[45]

6082[]

  • Ravine tries to persuade Kim into joining their organization, but he refuses. Discussions end on a mutual note. Since then, Ravine persistently continues to contact Kim.[45]
  • Big Joe is at the height of his career, with a WWW Heavy Weight Championship and five hit movies, on top of being awarded the Wimbledon Grandslam, a baseball triple-crown, and a Pulitzer Prize.[40][Note 10]
    • At the Awards' ceremony to receive the NBA's player of the match, Big Joe slips when he goes to shake hands, hitting his head and causing brain damage. When he went home, the "burnt out" Big Joe is convinced he is Elvis.[40][46]
  • 22-growthspurt30

"This, this is the new spirit vessel that will break the curse."

Emeralda is created at the end of the year, on the day of the Thanksgiving Festival.[45]

6083[]

  • Realizing Myyah's true nature, Kim transfers Emeralda to a research facility prepared by Ravine.[45]
  • Myyah mobilizes the military's special forces and sends them to Kim's facility to seize his research.
    • While Kim escapes to the central isolated room where Emeralda is kept, Elly shuts herself in the entryway.
    • As Kim tries to unlock the door, Elly pleads for him to live and sacrifices herself to stop the soldiers. She dies when the lab's hazard safety system is triggered, releasing high amounts of radiation into the entryway.[37]
    • Kim seals himself in with Emeralda. His final fate is unknown.
  • Big Joe, now in his 30s, becomes interested in prolonging his life and provides financial assistance to cloning institutes and cryo sleep companies.[40][Note 8][Note 9]
    • During a visit to a cold sleep facility, Big Joe unwittingly enters a cold sleep reactor, and is accidentally frozen by an employee.
    • Due to the lack of technology needed to thaw him, scientists leave Big Joe in his frozen state.
    • Despite the war, Big Joe's 'funeral' was a large affair due to his many fans.[40]
  • Full scale nuclear war breaks out.
    • Due to heavy bombings, nuclear fallout, and biochemical weapons, 90% of the human population is lost.[45]

6084[]

  • Dust fills the stratosphere, and nuclear winter sets in.
  • A number of above-ground genetic research laboratories are destroyed, allowing surviving animal experiments to escape.
    • One of these is the demi-human ancestors of the Chuchu race.

608x?-8999s[]

  • A large shift of tectonic plates sinks the remains of the Zeboim civilization to the ocean floor.[38]
  • Nuclear radiation and the shifting plates affect and hasten the evolution of animals, according to Isaac Balthasar's later studies.[47]

9000s (Before the Great War)[]

9088[]

  • Adoriel, a person who had the rare ability to use Ether, starts the Nisan Sect from her own house.[48][Note 11]
    • As word of Adoriel's abilities spread, what started as a local doctrine grew into a religion.
    • Future successors were expected to have levels of Ether ability comparable to Adoriel's.
  • The Nisan Sect's influence slowly spreads, starting with the region between current-day Aveh and Kislev.[49]

9164-9496[]

  • Cain and the Gazel Ministry determine that humanity has reached the final stage needed for Deus' resurrection.[28][Note 12]
    • Holy Empire Solaris is founded, and is operated by the three parties. All three wish for Deus' resurrection, but use each other to achieve their differing goals.[28]
      • Cain, with his "absolute charisma" as the founder of humanity, guides Solaris as its emperor, and holds a great deal of influence over the Gazel people. However, he wishes to reform humans in order to free them from their fate of being parts for Deus. He waits for the appearance of the Contact, and secretly wishes for Deus' destruction.
      • Myyah, as the supervisor, holds most of the political power, from internal affairs to "the military plan for the revival of Deus". Her primary duty remains in ensuring Deus' resurrection, which she sets about by trying to spur on human evolution, even if it means "resetting" humanity when it develops undesirable traits.
      • The Gazel Ministry provide governing support. Over time, their dispositions have shifted, and they desire to rule the surface, as well as eventually invade the stars with Deus.[Note 9]
    • Solaris's people are manipulated and brainwashed into being loyal to Cain.[28]
  • Over time, Solaris uses its well-organized military and advanced technology to conquer the surface country by country, taking advantage of the surface's chaotic sociopolitical landscape in order to expand their own power and secretly begin the M Plan (or 'Malakh Plan').[50][28]
    • Kidnapped people are experimented on with gene manipulation, remaking them into parts for powerful biological weapons called Malakh, or Angels, which would serve as Deus' weapons, as well as parts for Merkava.[50][51]
    • During these invasions, the Gazel Ministry continue their search for the Anima Relics.[28]
    • While Solaris' preparations are progressing, all Cain and the Ministry can do is to wait for the reappearance of the third element needed for Deus' resurrection: the Mother, Elehayym.[28]

9226[]

  • Shevat is founded atop of Babel Tower, which was formerly a part of the Eldridge.[48]
    • Governed by a council of Elders, Shevat researches the technology within the Babel Tower, expanding their own scientific knowledge.[50]
    • Shevat at some point becomes aware of Solaris's activities, and takes a cautious stance towards them.

92xx?-94xx?[]

  • Taura Melchior is born.[Note 13]
  • Gaspar is born.[52][Note 14]
  • Issac Balthasar is born, possibly in the Terrane area.[53][Note 15]
  • Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthasar come under Shevat's employ. Known as the Three Sages, they are sent out around the globe, usually to keep an eye on Solaris' activities, while remaining distant and uninvolved in any governments on the surface.
  • Melchior discovers a part of Kim's thesis in Zeboim's ruins and uses it to revive nanotechnology, as well as add to it with his own independent research.[52]

9301[]

  • The country of Nimrod is founded near the present day Aveh-Kislev border. While small compared to its warring neighbors, it begin to expand in size and influence.[48]

9440[]

  • Kusel Laodicia accedes as Nimrod’s fifth King, in what is the high point of the Laodicia Dynasty.
    • Nimrod is now the second largest country, with Shevat being the first.[48]

9453[]

  • In an era of tension between countries, Kusel Laodicia uses the popularity of the Nisan faith to his advantage, by recognizing it as Nimrod's state religion. This, alongside Nimrod's policies of intimidation with neighboring countries, helps to expand his authority and domain.[48]
    • Nimrod aids the expansion of the Nisan Sect, helping it reach its peak.[49]

9457[]

  • Bishop Penuel is appointed the position of Cardinal.[48]

9458[]

  • Penuel establishes the Penuel Monastery.[48]

    • Elehayym is adopted by Cardinal Penuel and is moved to Penuel Monastery.

9483[]

  • Elehayym's health worsens. She is sent back to Ashera Monastery for treatment, now located on eastern edge of Ignas.[55]
    • Lacan and Elehayym meet for the first time.
    • Months later, before Elehayym returns to the Penuel Monastery, Lacan hands her a sketch of herself.
  • Elehayym's name is possibly changed to Sophia at this time.[Note 17]

PW pg 30 Nisan Graph

Graph of the early Nisan Sect's structure of power. (scanned & translated by UltimateGraphics)

  • At some point, in exchange for aid to Nisan, Emperor Kusel Laodicia was granted the power to ordain bishops in each diocese. [48][56]
    • Kusel requests the Nisan Church for the authority to directly select the next Holy Mother, wanting to ensure the next one is a supporter of his dynasty in order to unify Nisan and Nimrod.[56]
    • Nisan strongly opposes Kusel's request, wanting to keep the traditional process of selecting the Holy Mother through the support of various Cardinals.[56]
    • Getting around this, Nimrod instead attempted to appease the bishops of each diocese that had the power to ordain a Holy Mother, in order to persuade them to Kusel's cause.[56]
    • In order to keep Nimrod from taking control, the Cardinals rearrange the power structure of Nisan, as well as appoint their most prominent member, Penuel, as the First Prelate.[56]
    • As the First Prelate, Penuel now had the sole authority to ordain the next Holy Mother.
      • Nimrod attempts to win Penuel over, but with the intervention of the other Cardinals, Nimrod's influence is halted.[56]
    • Despite these measures, a number inside Nisan disagreed with the Cardinals' choosing of Penuel as the First Prelate.[56]

9488[]

  • Penuel selects the thirteen year old Elehayym as candidate for the position of the Holy Mother.[37]
    • Elehayym's name is possibly changed to Sophia at this date.[Note 17]
  • As candidates are selected, the power play between church factions ignites behind the scenes, resulting in violence.[49][37]
    • As Penuel's faction is drawn into the infighting, Sophia feels responsible for it and begins to long for death.[37]
  • Frustrated by the cardinals' opposition, Kusel plots the assassination of Penuel and Sophia.[56]
    • Kusel hires a squad of mercenaries and elects Karellen, who was known for his military prowess as well as his cold-hearted demeanor, as its leader.[56][57]
  • Disguising themselves as part of the anti-Penuel faction that had recently risen within the church, Karellen's group led an attack on a monastery Penuel was visiting, and took advantage of the chaos to carry out their orders from Kusel.[58][56]
    • When Karellen goes to assassinate Sophia, she smiles and thanks him. Charmed by her innocent smile, Karellen is unable to complete his mission.[48][37]
    • Karellen flees with Sophia and serves as her protector.[54][57]
    • Most of the Penuel Faction are killed, including Cardinal Penuel himself. Penuel's niece, Sieglinde, goes missing.[56]

9490[]

  • The Laodicia Dynasty collapses. Kusel Laodicia is murdered.[58]
  • Due to the death of Penuel and the sudden collapse of the Laodicia dynasty, the Nisan Sect undergoes a schism between the remains of the Penuel faction and the other dioceses.[56]
    • The Nisan Sect ceases to function as a religious organization, beginning its decline.[58][56]
    • The remains of the Penuel faction move to present day Nisan, with the hopes of reconstructing and reviving Nisanism. However, their plans were fruitless without a Holy Mother, so focus eventually shifts to religious practice instead.[56]

9493[]

  • Having left his hometown, Lacan gets caught up in a localized uprising against Solaris and meets Karellen, who was working with Sophia against Solaris at the time. Lacan and Sophia do not reunite.[29][58]

9495[]

  • After missing for seven years, Sophia reappears in the city of Nisan, along with Karellen and Sieglinde.[58][56][59][57]
    • After the Church Assembly quickly reassembles, and the remaining members of the original Nisan Sect unify with the Penuel faction.[56]
    • At the recommendation of Sieglinde and the Penuel faction, Sophia is appointed the new Mother.[56]
    • The church is renamed, becoming the Nisan Orthodox Church. Much of its previous doctrine and organization are drastically reformed, centering around Sophia.[56][58][59]
    • Sieglinde, who had been close to Sophia since their time at the monastery, becomes Sophia's assistant.[58]
    • The Monastery Corps is formed, with Karellen serving as their commander.[58][57]
  • Construction begins on Nisan Cathedral.[56]

  • Lacan and Sophia reunite for the first time since childhood at Ashera Monastery.[58]
  • Solaris begins an all-out invasion of the surface in order to accelerate the M Plan.[50][Note 19]
    • Soylent System facilities begin to be set up all over the surface, in order to process more kidnapped people into parts for Malakh or Merkava.[50][Note 20]
  • The existence and purpose of Solaris is gradually unearthed, uniting the numerous surface nations together under the name Anti-Solaris, with the purpose of bringing Solaris down.[50][60]
    • Seizing this opportunity to strike at Solaris, Shevat's Elders ally with Anti-Solaris. Shevat becomes the core of the Anti-Solaris Alliance.[58][60]
    • Shevat declares revolt against Solaris.[60]
  • The Shevat-Solaris War breaks out days later.[58]

9497[]

  • Many war refugees from around the world head for the neutral zone of Nisan.[60]
  • Nisan becomes caught up in the war's outbreak as its forces fight to protect the Church. Despite Sophia being against it, Monastery Corps members are drawn into joining the Alliance's surface army.[61][Note 21]
    • Lacan's post, The Mobile Reconnaissance Ground Corps, specializes in "many things". It is tasked with searching for Anima Relics and "preparing behind the battle lines".[61]
    • Karellen leads the Church Near-Assault Corps, which is responsible for the Church's defense. Despite a greater part of it being drawn in by Shevat's war efforts, they still keep up with their original duty.
    • Over time, those who originally agreed with Sophia join the Alliance, overriding her decision.[61]
  • Lacan meets Roni and Rene, who are now chiefs of a caravan group that previously traded with surface powers. Together they form a partnership for the Alliance called the Supply Corps, which is tasked with supplying weapons and materials.[58][60][61]

9497-9499[]

  • Over time, the Supply Corps's partnerships with the surface military strengthen it to become a mobile Corp in its own right, with a military might comparable to Nisan's Monastery Corps.[60][61][Note 21]
  • Sieglinde meets and forms a close bond with Rene.[59]
  • Karellen begins studying under Melchior at an unknown point in time, becoming one of his best students (at least, according to Karellen himself[62]).[54][Note 10]
  • Cain, feeling that humanity should be entrusted with their own future, removes himself from the forefront, leaving both Myyah and the Gazel Ministry to manage governing Solaris themselves.[61][Note 21]
    • As a consequence of Cain's absence, Myyah's governing power over Solaris is on par with Gazel Ministry's, making her the "hidden ruler" of Solaris.[61][36]
  • The Shevat Elders' agenda shifts from initially wanting the surface's freedom from Solaris, to wanting to rule the surface themselves.[58][61][Note 22]
Sophia

Sophia's unfinished portrait by Lacan.

9499[]

  • Nisan takes in wounded soldiers, who are nursed by the Kahal, Sophia's followers.[58][60][63]
  • Sophia's devoted rescue and gathering of refugees and soldiers increases Nisan's influence, growing it to a size comparable to Shevat.
    • Sophia, who heads the Healing Corps, comes revered as the "Holy Mother". "Sophia's will" becomes a symbol for the surface army.[37][Note 10]
    • Nisan's influence over the Alliance grows to a scale similar to Shevat's.
  • Shevat's Elders send a 13 year old Zephyr to Nisan as an emissary. Despite her short stay, Zephyr was treated with the same level of respect as Sophia.[52]
  • At some point, Zephyr goes to the front lines and lends her strength to the Defensive Corps, "giving it a more Mobile Corps nature".[61]
  • The Three Sages participate with their knowledge and expertise.[61]
    • Balthasar used his expertise in Gear mechanics to build and repair Gears for the surface army.[53]
    • Gasper led soldiers and fought on the front lines.[52]
    • Melchior is implied to have used his nanotechnology towards healing.[61][52]
  • Inspired by Sophia and Nisan, the Anti-Solaris Alliance closes in on Solaris' initial lead in the war, slowly wearing down Solaris' power.
  • Solaris builds Soylent System facilities all over the world.[Note 20]
  • As an means to turn the tide of battle, the Gazel Ministry constructs and deploys Merkava, dealing a heavy attack on Shevat and Nisan, returning the war's progress to a standstill.[58][60][61][Note 23]
    • Myyah disapproves of Merkava's construction, feeling that humanity was still insufficient for Deus's revival.[58]
  • Solaris lands a surprise attack against Shevat, killing the Imperial family save for Zephyr.[52]
  • Excalibur (No.1) and Excalibur (No.2) are excavated and refurbished by Shevat to combat the Merkava.[58][64][Note 10]
  • Opposition grows between Myyah and the Gazel Ministry.[58][60]
    • As more surface dwellers displayed Ether abilities during the war, Myyah felt these humans had the potential to make better parts for Deus.[61]
      • Myyah theorized that these humans, if aligned with an Anima Relic, would make for more powerful weapons than the Gazel Ministry, who lacked these abilities. This makes the Gazel Minstry useless to her.[58]
      • The Gazel Ministry believe they are the proper candidates, as they're focused on carrying out Deus's "true goal" of destroying "the hostile power in space".[65][Note 24]
  • At the end of the year, at Karellen's urging, Lacan begins painting Sophia's portrait.
  • Karellen borrows Kim's partial thesis from Melchior.[54][66][Note 10]
    • Karellen completes work on a nanoreactor, which he hopes will save people's lives and help Sophia.[67][68][Note 10]

9500[]

  • Shevat receives intel concerning Solaris' search for Anima Relics, and forms a special task force to do their own search. Headed by Roni, the force includes Karellen and Lacan, who are accompanied by Sophia.[61][58][Note 21]
    • Lacan learns of the Zohar's existence.[58]
    • Karellen and Sophia fuse with their Anima Relics.[32][Note 25]
    • Four Gazel Ministers find and fuse with their Anima Relics, and use their power to "cause havoc" on the surface nations. Despite this, they lose their lives after being defeated by Lacan and his friends.[58][32]
  • The remaining eight members of the Gazel Ministry work out a secret trade with the Council of Elders in Shevat.[69][Note 26]
  • Myyah is captured and held captive in Shevat.
    • Karellen possibly meets Myyah while she is imprisoned in Shevat.[57]

  • The Shevat-Solaris War ends.

  5. Macross reference, referring to technology that's beyond human understanding.
  6. The timing of some specific events are possibly off between the opening scene and what's in Perfect Works.
  7. pg. 167 notes that while it's not unusual for duplicate Myyah factors to awaken at the same time, it was unusual for it to be twins.
  8. 8.0 8.1 Timing of this event is a roughly based on Big Joe's age. PW pg. 187 seems to contradict the main timeline, since Billy's Orphanage wasn't around when Big Joe was revived.
  9. 9.0 9.1 9.2 Section contains element(s) taken from machine translated Japanese text that need/needed to be doublechecked for accuracy.
  10. 10.0 10.1 10.2 10.3 10.4 10.5 10.6 10.7 10.8 This event is not given an exact year in the game or in Perfect Works, so it may be incorrect.
  11. 'She/her' is used for Adoriel solely on the usage of '教母' later in the paragraph, which is the same title given to Margie.
  12. Aside from PW pg 21 using the phrase "835 years ago", there's no defined timeline for the progression of Solaris' plans up until the start of the Solaris War.
  13. Melchior's actual age and date of birth are never noted.
  14. PW pg. 193 notes Gaspar was 560 when his son was born, but since his son's age is never said, this is a rough estimate.
  15. The only estimate of Balthasar's age is that he's "lived for 500 years" and that he participated in the Solaris War.
  16. UG's translation uses 'military corps', but pg. 172, 173 and a few other spots use 傭兵 ("Hired Soldier") to refer to Karellen.
  17. 17.0 17.1 PW pg. 14 says that this happened in 9483, but pg. 165 says it was when she was 13, which would make the date 9488.
  18. Zephyr says she's 522 years old in-game, but PW lists her being born in 9486 and that she was 13 when she met Sophia, so the timeline is using PW instead.
  19. Pg. 20 doesn't list exact dates for each part of Solaris' expansion on the surface, so this is a rough guess based on other events that happen in 9496.
  20. 20.0 20.1 PW pg. 15 says the Soylent facilities were built in 9499, but pg. 20 implies their existence is what made the Anti-Solaris group form in the first place.
  21. 21.0 21.1 21.2 21.3 Pg. 23's charts are unclear when these events happen and in what order, so the timing of these are loose guesses based on context.
  22. The timing of this shift is unclear; pg. 15 insinuates the Elders always wanted to rule the surface, while pg. 23 says their attitudes shifted during the war.
  23. Pg. 22 charts this as happening at the midpoint of the war, while pg. 23 says it happened at the end.
  24. Perfect Works doesn't state what the hostile power specifically is, just that Myyah is thinking about Deus's resurrection, while the Ministry is thinking about what will happen afterwards.
  25. 25.0 25.1 Despite pg. 175 stating this happened "500 years ago", PW also uses "500" years ago to refer to Lacan and Grahf on pg. 160, so it's unclear when these events happened.
  26. UG's Perfect Works translation makes a small error here: the trade between Gazel and Shevat and the Sophia's death are two separate sentences. The trade didn't call for Sophia's death but for Sophia herself.
  27. One PW translation says "less than 1%"; 1割 means literally "1 one-tenth", or "10%". "全人口が1割以下に減少し" > "total population decreased to no more than 10%".

  7. Wave Existence: Long ago, a 'modifier', or a pseudo-perpetual, infinite-energy engine was created. That engine was named 'Zohar'. That reactor was created by an ancient people from another planet to attain what is considered to be the ultimate energy possible within this four-dimensional universe. Eventually, those people used that same engine to create the inter-planetary invasion weapon, 'Deus'... Zohar was used as its primary source of power.

Requiring energy, the engine connected this dimension to the higher dimensional space. As a result, that reactor 'merged' or 'synchronized' with the wave existence in that higher dimension... ME. I 'descended' from the point of contact created by the machine through the 'Path of Sephirot', or the domain you are in right now, and incarnated in the four-dimensional world. After I 'advented' to the four-dimensional world, in order to stabilize myself here, I had to exchange, or materialize, my form and enter into the 'modifier' engine... 66. KRELIAN: Something I borrowed from Melchior. It's about a form of molecular engineering... nanotechnology. I believe it's a book found in the ancient ruins of the Zeboim civilization. It's a copy of someone's research report, but it's incomplete. I think there were even more wonderful things written in it, but we'll never know now...
  67. KRELIAN: "Lacan, look at this. I finally completed it. This will save people's lives. Isn't that right, Melchior? With this even Sophia will..."
  68. TAURA: "It's called a Nanoreactor. It is a device that can rebuild substances at the molecular level. Not only can it just heal humans, but theoretically it should also be able to create many substances."
  69. ZEPHYR: "Fearing the increasing power of the masses assembling in Nisan, the Gazel Ministry schemed to hand over to us their antagonist, Miang, and promised a division of the rulership over the earth's surface. 70. ZEPHYR: "The leaders of Shevat accepted... ... and it was decided that Nisan would be the location of the final decisive battle with Solaris."
  71. ZEPHYR: "Krelian, who followed closely under her as the leader of the Nisan sect's militia, completely lost faith after calling out to a god that would not respond. "I will create god with my own hands!" ... were the last words he uttered before he disappeared."

  77. CAPTAIN: . . . Recently, however, there has been almost no treasure... just little things. Since we started the big job, well, that's all we've had. . . . Oh, that's a job for the 'Ethos'. The 'Ethos' is planning a really big salvage next. I don't know the details but, looks like we'll be searching for some buried treasure. . . . But, we're dependant on the 'Ethos' to buy our stuff.
