Vartas is the star system where the Yuriev Institute is situated on the planet Zavarov, as well as the home of the Federation's Salvator Faction, which is secretly controlled by Dmitri Yuriev himself. It is also where Pierre Ruryk hails from. Ruryk represents this system in the Galaxy Federation Government in Xenosaga I&II for the Nintendo DS. Vartas is also close to the system of Miltia.
